Follow Caillou, the lovable 4-year-old with a big imagination, as he and his friends go on adventures and experience all the wonders of being a child.


Caillou is having fun being noisy, but his Mommy asks him to be quiet. All of a sudden he feels hungry, so he goes off to the kitchen -- where he gets the idea to make some cookies. Only instead of making cookies, he makes a great big gooey, sweet and delicious mess!

Caillou is afraid. He’s afraid of Mr. Hinkle, the kind man who lives next door. He is even afraid of Mr. Hinkle’s house! So when Mr. Hinkle comes to visit to say how sorry he is that Caillou is afraid, Caillou runs away. But it quickly turns into a game of hide and seek and when playtime is over Caillou has made a new friend.

Caillou really hates vegetables until he goes for a walk in the park with his Grandpa, who shows him all kinds of interesting animals and birds. All this activity makes them hungry—as hungry as bears! So when it’s suppertime, they eat just like bears, pretending their vegetables are berries, (leaving just enough room for cookies, of course).

Mom is very busy with the household accounts so she doesn’t have time to play with Caillou. Nor does Dad, who’s trying to fix the washing machine. And Grandma’s busy looking after Rosie. Even Gilbert the cat doesn’t want to play with him. Caillou is all alone and feeling a bit sorry for himself. But pretty soon he invents a game with one of his dinosaurs and then he’s too busy to play with everyone else.

Caillou has left his toys all over the place: on the stairs, in the driveway and even in the bathroom. He has to tidy them all before he can have his chocolate pudding. Part of the problem is that he has so many toys. Mom suggests that he should give some of his old ones to Rosie and Dad suggests that he can make a big toy box. Caillou helps him to make it.

Just like his Daddy, Caillou loves anything to do with cars, so he’s very happy when Dad asks him to help wash the family car. And while he sits in the car, he imagines he’s driving a car to the beach. When he beeps the horn, he surprises Dad, making him accidentally turn the hose on himself. Later on, when the family really goes for a drive to the beach, Caillou is reminded of his imaginary journey.

It’s Caillou’s first day at day care and he really doesn’t want to go. But once he gets there he meets his teacher, Miss Martin and makes two new friends, Leo and Clementine. Day care is a fun place, after all and when his Mommy comes to pick him up, Caillou doesn’t want to go home!

Caillou gets up very early one morning and gets dressed all by himself. He doesn’t want to miss a trip to the circus. So when Dad points out that the circus trip is the following day, Caillou is very disappointed. In fact he’s not in a good mood at all. But Dad makes everything right by suggesting a special game: together, they create their own circus parade.

Caillou can’t get to sleep because he’s sure there’s a monster in his bedroom. Mom and Dad try to reassure him, but things go from bad to worse when he thinks his toy snake is real. Dad shows him that the scary noises he hears are being made by a tree branch brushing against the window and in the end, the only ‘monster’ in Caillou’s room is Gilbert the cat.

Caillou is talking to Grandma. She's surprised when he tells her he doesn't have any friends. She asks him about Clementine and Leo and reminds him that Gilbert is a friend too. And what about Rosie? Well yes, says Caillou, Rosie is my sister, but she's my friend too. And how about Mr. Hinkle? And Mom and Dad? Pretty soon, Caillou realizes he has lots of friends including Grandma.

Caillou needs a follow-up visit to the doctor for an earache. He is afraid to go in as the last visit frightened him. But his mother encourages him and the doctor assures him it won't hurt this time. Caillou examines a doll's ear first and thinks it's fun. Then the doctor looks in his. He's on the mend and onto a good thing. When he gets home he shines a flashlight in everyone's ear including Grandma who's snoozing in the armchair!

Caillou remembers when he was just two and a half and Rosie came home for the first time. Everybody was very excited—everybody except Caillou, who felt a bit left out. But that soon changed, especially when Caillou helped Daddy change Rosie’s diaper.

It’s a busy day. First of all it’s snowing and Caillou is looking forward to making a snowman. And Mom’s making one of her special surprise cakes, which means Caillou and Rosie have to go to the shop with her to get the ingredients. And then Caillou gets lost in the shop…but it all works out fine in the end. And the snowman is delicious!

It’s bath time. And for Caillou that means trouble. He just doesn’t like taking baths. But bit by bit bath time turns into playtime, thanks to Daddy, a motorboat and a big bottle of bubble bath.

Mom’s doing the laundry and Caillou decides to get dressed all by himself. The problem is, he doesn’t have any clean clothes to wear. So Daddy suggests a dressing-up game with some of his old clothes. Pretty soon Caillou is not only all dressed up he even has a moustache to go with his fancy outfit.

Caillou's favorite shirt has teddy bears all over it. It's his teddy shirt. One day he sees Rosie wearing it and he gets very upset. But he has to admit that he's getting too big for the teddy shirt. In fact, he can hardly get into it. But he doesn't really want Rosie to have it, so he gives it to his favorite teddy bear to wear.

Caillou has lots of big adventures when he goes round the block by himself for the first time. He meets Sarah out on her skateboard; he sees a rainbow; he plays hopscotch and he meets a scary crow. By the time he gets home he’s really happy to see Mom again.

Caillou is at Grandpa and Grandma's house. He goes looking for a special hiding place and gets stuck in a kitchen closet. Grandpa shows Caillou an extra-special place: a hollow tree trunk. Caillou discovers an old toy in the hiding place and learns that it used to be his Daddy's hiding place when he was Caillou's age.

It’s Caillou’s birthday and he’s having a little party. His friends Clementine and Leo come to play with him and they all have face paint disguises. What Caillou really wants for his birthday is a special dinosaur. And by the time the party’s over he unexpectedly has two of them!

Caillou has nobody to play with, so he recruits Gilbert his cat. He tries to get Gilbert to play his favorite games, but Gilbert isn’t interested in the slightest. When Mom points out that Caillou’s been trying to get the cat to play people games, he realizes that Gilbert probably wants to play kitty cat games. That works much better!

Caillou is tossing and turning. No matter what he does he just can’t get to sleep. It’s summer and his curtains are at the cleaners. Luckily Grandma has a wonderful idea: She makes a cardboard cutout night sky to put against the window. It darkens the room and projects the moon and the stars onto his walls and ceiling. Caillou falls asleep in no time.

One day in the park Caillou is scared by a stranger’s dog, so he’s very nervous when he visits Grandma’s house and discovers she’s looking after a friend’s dog. But bit by bit they get to know each other and pretty soon Caillou isn’t nervous at all. In fact he’s made a brand new friend.

Caillou and his family go to the zoo. Caillou is thrilled to see that animals have families too. He sees a baby rhino and a big family of chimpanzees. But his absolute favorite is a young sea otter, which has to be taught how to swim.

It’s a rainy day and Caillou is looking forward to jumping in all the puddles when he goes out with his Mommy. But somehow or other it takes Caillou a very long time to get ready to go out. There’s always something else he has to do before he can leave. So by the time he does leave, it has stopped raining. Happily, there are still some puddles to splash in.

Caillou and his family are spending the day at the beach. There’s so much to see and do! Caillou and Dad go into the water; a seagull tries to steal Caillou’s sandwich; Caillou sees a hermit crab and finally he and Dad build a sandcastle.

Caillou goes with Mom to buy a new pair of shoes. On the way he sees Sarah running fast. He decides he wants a pair of shoes he can run in. First, the salesman has to measure his feet. Eventually he picks exactly the right pair and he shows Sarah just how fast he can run.

Caillou wants to make a snowman, but he doesn’t really know how. Luckily, Sarah knows how to make snowmen very well and they work together building the components and putting them together. When they’re finished, Mom provides the finishing touches: A carrot for his nose and some big buttons for his eyes and his smile.

Caillou is very excited because he’s going to a parade with horses, drummers and clowns. But Rosie is afraid of clowns so Mom isn’t sure it’s a good idea to go. Caillou is upset because he thinks he’ll miss the parade just because of that. And then he has a good idea: If he shows Rosie that clowns are just people wearing silly costumes, she won’t be afraid anymore.

Caillou is having fun with his friend—his special friend—George. What makes George so special? Well, he’s invisible for one thing... George and Caillou have a race and break a flowerpot. At first Caillou blames George, but his Daddy talks to him and he agrees that he might have had a little something to do with it too.

It’s fall and the backyard is covered with leaves. Caillou and Rosie have so much fun playing in the leaves that Caillou doesn’t want to go into the house. He asks Dad if he can help him rake the leaves into piles. When they’ve made piles of piles, Caillou pretends the piles of leaves are houses enough houses to make a city.

Caillou meets a new friend called André and André is big! Caillou never had a friend this big before. André is also a bit clumsy, so playing with him means things tend to get broken. Caillou is particularly upset when André breaks his favorite chair, but all is soon forgotten when they go outside and play soccer.

Caillou is visiting Grandma’s house and he’s not in a very good mood. While Grandma goes into the kitchen, Caillou starts to make a finger painting with Grandma’s blue paint and pretty soon he’s using all of Grandma’s colors and feeling much, much better.

Mom is upset when the mailman only brings bills, bills and more bills. She tells Caillou she'd love to get a nice letter for a change. Caillou and Dad decide to make a nice letter for her and early the next morning they give it to the mailman to deliver. Mom is thrilled to get such a nice letter from Caillou.

Grandpa tells Caillou about the time when his Daddy was a little boy and they went on a camping trip. Caillou loves the idea of camping and he and Grandpa set up the tent in the garden. Caillou is excited to see the stars in the sky and the fireflies in the bushes. But once they settle in to go to sleep, Caillou gets a bit nervous, so Grandpa comes up with a surprise solution!

Caillou goes to the swimming pool with his family and Daddy teaches him how to swim. After a few lessons he’s getting better and better. Pretty soon, he wants to swim by himself and although it starts off with a bit of a scare, everything ends up just fine. Caillou can swim now.

Mom and Dad are going out. Caillou wants his regular baby-sitter, not Julie, whom he has never met before. He’s sure he isn’t going to like her. He gives Julie a hard time, refusing to eat his supper... But then Julie turns suppertime into a game and serves breakfast instead. Long before Mom and Dad come home, Caillou has decided he likes his new baby-sitter after all.

Caillou has a hard time staying upright on his skates. He wants to be the fastest skater in the world but he keeps falling on the ice. Dad gives him a chair to hold onto to help his balance and after a little while and a lot of encouragement from Mom and Dad he is finally able to skate.

When Caillou first meets Jim in the sandbox at the park he doesn’t really like him at all. Jim grabs at everything he wants and Caillou is a bit intimidated. But Jim’s Mom and Caillou's Grandpa sort things out and the two boys discover how much fun they can have playing together.

Mom and Rosie are out for the day and that means Caillou and Dad will spend the day together "taking care of business." Caillou likes having Dad all to himself and the two of them make a bookshelf for Mom and go out for a bike ride together, the way Caillou likes it: just the two of them, Caillou and Dad.

When Grandpa comes over to help Mom make a vegetable garden he shows Caillou how to plant a bed of carrots. Caillou doesn’t like vegetables very much, but he’s very interested in seeing the results of his gardening. And when the carrots finally do come out of the ground he discovers they taste better than any vegetables he’s ever eaten.

Caillou and his family have a wonderful day out at a theme park. Caillou and Dad go on the thrilling Niagara River Ride, they all go on a Ferris wheel and for a special treat they have cotton candy for dessert. The perfect day is made even better when Dad tosses rings at a midway booth and wins the biggest teddy bear Caillou has ever seen.

Caillou doesn’t go to school yet but he really wants to ride on the school bus that stops outside his house every morning. When Dad takes him to see the bus from close up the driver offers to take Caillou with the other children the next day. Caillou makes a special painting for the driver and they have a marvellous ride.

Caillou is having a game of dinosaur hunter with Gilbert the cat. He goes for a snack and when he comes back there’s no sign of Gilbert. He’s disappeared! Mom says Caillou will have to be a detective and together they search the house, looking for clues. Eventually they find Gilbert curled up and fast asleep in Caillou’s bed.

Caillou gets up early one morning. So early in fact that he’s the first person awake in the whole house. He decides to make his own breakfast—and then gets the idea to make Mom and Dad a surprise breakfast. It’s a lot of hard work and he does make a bit of a mess, but Caillou’s surprise breakfast is a big success.

Caillou wants to wear his favorite socks, but one of them is missing. When he goes looking in the basement he accidentally gets himself locked in. Daddy to the rescue! Only now they're both locked in! Caillou and Dad shout to attract Mom's attention. She comes and lets them out and finds the missing sock.

Caillou is very excited when he goes to work with Mom. She works in a big building with revolving doors and elevators. While she works in her office Caillou does a nice drawing. They have lunch together and then Daddy comes to fetch Caillou. On the way out Caillou shows him how to work the elevators and the revolving doors.

Caillou’s bossy friend Clementine comes over to play. Caillou wants to play dinosaurs but Clementine insists on playing families. When she picks up his teddy bear he’s particularly upset, because it’s his teddy bear. They quarrel and it ends in tears. Mom sorts things out and they end up friends again, just in time to play baseball with Clementine’s brother Billy.

Caillou is very curious when he finds a dead bird in the garden. He wants to know why it died. Dad explains that it probably got too old. Caillou thinks about that and begins to worry about getting too old himself. He tells Mom and Dad he doesn’t want to get any older because of what happened to the bird. They reassure him and he agrees he has plenty of time to get older.

Caillou is playing in the park with Clementine. She’s a lot more confident about most things than he is and she isn’t at all scared to go on the big kids’ slide. Caillou is frightened, but he can’t bring himself to admit it to Clementine. She teases him anyway. When Dad comes to fetch Caillou they go down the slide together. Caillou discovers it isn’t so hard after all and does it all by himself.

Grandma is looking after her friend’s dog again. She shows Caillou how to walk the puppy on a leash and how to play ‘fetch’ with a ball. Caillou loves having the puppy obey his orders and pesters Mom and Dad for a dog of his own. They say he already has a pet: Gilbert. Maybe when he’s a bit older he can have a dog. Caillou understands and in the meantime he attached a leash to a toy dog and proudly walks it around the house.

Mommy isn’t feeling well so she asks Caillou to watch Rosie and play quietly while she lies down for a while. They draw animals, but Rosie is naughty and starts drawing on the walls. When Mom comes in to see what all the fuss is about she is angry with poor Caillou—who thinks it’s unfair. Mom softens and together they clean up Rosie’s mess.

Caillou has a fever. Then he gets itchy spots. Chicken pox! He’s not very comfortable and he has to take special baths to soothe the itching. He knows he’s not supposed to scratch but he just can’t help himself. When he sees Rosie playing in the garden he wants to play with her and can’t wait to get better. But by the time he’s finally well enough to go out and pay, it turns out Rosie has chicken pox too!

When Mom is busy on the phone all morning and doesn’t have time for Caillou he feels very left out of things. He plays with his toy phone and then talks to Grandma on the real phone. He likes talking on the phone -- it makes him feel very grown up.

Caillou is going to spend the night away from his home and family for the very first time. He goes to Leo's house and has a lot of fun in Leo's tree house, but at bedtime he's feeling lonely and homesick. Leo's mom suggests he should phone home. He feels much better when he speaks to his Mommy and even better when she reminds him he has his teddy bear with him.

Caillou thinks his sister Rosie is getting favorable treatment and it just isn’t fair! Mom explains to him that Rosie is just a baby and can’t do a lot of the things she asks him to do. Caillou decides being a baby is better than being four and pretends to be a baby—until Mom tells both her babies it’s time for a nap. Maybe being four is better than being a baby after all!

It’s Caillou’s first flight and he’s curious about everything. He loves looking out of the window at the ground below; he likes playing with the music system; breakfast on a plane is an adventure in itself and when the pilot invites him to visit the flight deck with Daddy that’s the best of all!

It’s not always easy being a big brother. Caillou likes Rosie very much, but she can really be a big nuisance. She’s bothering Caillou, interrupting him when all he wants to do is read his book. He sends her away, but pretty soon he wants to play a game and it’s always better to play with somebody else.

Grandma always has the best surprises for Caillou. When they go to the park together she introduces him to the birds that live there. The chickadees and cardinals come and take the food right out of his hand. When they go home Grandma presents Caillou with a little birdhouse so he can go bird-watching every day.

Mom is putting on her makeup to go out with Dad and that gives Caillou an idea for a game. He takes one of Rosie’s dolls and tries to make it look as pretty as his Mom—with disastrous results. He’s ashamed, so he hides the doll. At first he tries to pretend he doesn’t know where it is, but he quickly admits the truth and all is well again.

Poor Caillou! He’s fallen off his bike and scraped his knee. The mishap has hurt his knee and his pride too. He needs the special touch of Mom’s first-aid. When she puts a special plaster on Caillou, the one with the dinosaur pattern, he begins to feel much better.

Caillou’s big friend André has come to visit. André is a soccer player and Caillou wants to play too... Only Caillou isn’t very good at kicking the ball. Sometimes he misses altogether sometimes it only goes a few inches. He wants to give up, but André and Dad encourage him and eventually he makes the biggest kick of the day.

Caillou’s friend Sarah has a magnifying glass. She shows Caillou how it makes everything in the garden look bigger and suggests a game: Caillou will be a great jungle explorer, using the magnifying glass to make butterflies look as big as birds and Gilbert the cat as big as a lion.

There’s a special event at Caillou’s daycare. Leo, Clementine and Caillou are getting ready to be in a play. They enjoy dressing up and rehearsing and they enjoy it even more when their parents come to see the show.

It’s trick-or-treat time in Caillou’s neighbourhood. Caillou’s dressed as an astronaut, Leo is a not-very-scary Frankenstein’s monster and Clementine is a nurse. With their parents tagging along, they go door to door, collecting lots of treats.

Caillou invites Leo to go on a family picnic. After lunch they go exploring in the woods and discover an old tree trunk that has fallen down. They pretend that they are brave knights and the tree trunk is a bad dragon. When it begins to rain, Caillou and Leo bravely lead the family to safety.
