McCarren and Rado may be cops, but they have a soft spot for Hollywood's shady characters. There's a caped eccentric named Captain Crusader and a lovable bag lady known as Lady Di. This is a place where prostitutes possess hearts of gold and the police sport perfect teeth. Their supervisor, Capt. Biddle (Edward Winter), is a strict martinet who often critiques their methods. However, they have the support of George Grinsky, an openly gay former football star who runs a rundown diner called “La Cage aux Grease." McCarren and Rado are on the trail of a dangerous individual targeting the street community. The homeless are being beaten and burned, prostitutes are turning up dead, and tensions are rising.

After solving a tricky case involving an armed gunman, the undercover cops feel they want to get away from it all. However, Captain Biddle now assigns them the task of acting as bodyguards for Eddie.
